Heavy equipment runs in my blood. I grew up on a small farm in Northern Arizona where I learned to operate many different pieces of equipment.  Opportunities have presented themselves where I have been able to operate many different pieces of construction equipment from scissor lifts to D-9 dozers.  The opportunity to work in the trucking industry where I get to "play" with trucks and heavy equipment has been one of the greatest blessings in my life....I truly love what I get to do for a living.  Here at Transport Equipment, I have been privileged to learn and keep on top of changing DOT rules as well as watching the heavy equipment continue to evolve.  We pull loads for the largest heavy equipment dealers in Arizona as well as the largest rental corporations.  We have great working relationships with Northern Arizona's largest manufacturers, retailers, and construction companies as well.  I pride myself on setting and keeping high business standards, ethics and being able to work for the benefit of all of our customers and the public at large.  I have been able to establish the greatest group of individuals to safely and efficiently haul your equipment in Flagstaff.  We have the expertise, equipment, and confidence to make it happen.

Every once and a while, we get to take a little break from the normal grind and take a picture of what we are doing. Here we are hauling a CAT 966M.  The picture is taken just before the driver will be heading down the cut between Page and Flagstaff.

It is not too often that we can take the time to stop and take a picture of the loads we get to haul.  I had to go and open a gate across the road so I took the opportunity to take a picture of this 966 just before I unload it off the rear of our Murray 16 tire trailer.

A little something from my softer side.....

Nice picture from our yard looking at Mount Elden.  You can not see it in the picture, but the fog made the red colors form a sort of halo around the south end of the mountain.

Here is a picture of me hauling a John Deere 410E Rock Truck on our Murray 16 Tire Expando.  This is a rather large rock truck, and it necessitates the larger trailer to haul it and make axle weights in Arizona.  It is good that I used this trailer, as I was pulled into a road side scale.  I had 11,650 on my steer axle and 44,850 on my drives.  DOT could not weigh the trailer because their scales are not set up for a 10' wide trailer or one with 16 tires.

Have you ever seen one of these?  This is the first one I have seen.  Chris got to transport it to the shop for some minor repairs.  It is a Menzi Mucker, Check it out on youtube to see what it does.  This one has made it's home here in Flagstaff.

Headed to Parker, AZ with a John Deere 1050K.  If you look at the spec sheets for all the other John Deere 1050's you will notice that this 1050K weighs in 15,000# or more heavier than previous models.  I have to be honest with you.  I have been in a lot of dozers, this one seems real comfortable, I would like the chance to work it for a while.

Here is a picture of truck 51 delivering a unique rock crusher set up.  A crusher attachment with its own engine (CAT 3206) is attached where the loader bucket would normally attach.  When you lift the attachment, you can tell that it is quite heavy as the front of the tractor squishes down as it starts to lift the crusher off the ground.  Someone did add an additional counterweight to the back of the loader, but I think it needs a little more.

This machine is used to crush rock in the roads on our national forest service roads.  A big thanks goes out to the National Forest Service for this load.  It was fun and educational as I have never even seen one of these!

Here is a neat picture of us hauling a Case IH combine from Colorado to Chino Valley.  The driver stopped for his required break and took these great pictures.

Recently we have had the privilege to transport several of these John Deere 400 series Rock Trucks for RDO.  Rock trucks like this one are quite impressive.  They have a feature that allows the front suspension to "kneel" so we can get the load height below 15'.  We use our 16 tire Murray trailer to transport rock trucks like this one because of the ease of loading and unloading, as well as weight distribution.  We have hauled a couple of these from central Utah back to Flagstaff.

We are at that time of year again!!! Road Check 2015 will be held on I-40 in the vicinity of Flagstaff Arizona.  The rest area between Bellemont and Parks, AZ will be utilized as the pull in for all Commercial Vehicles.  All trucks in both directions will be required to pull in and be inspected by ADOT Enforcement and/or Arizona DPS.  In addition to the pull in at the rest area there will be roaming officers that will be pulling trucks over along I-40 and I-17.

The Arizona Trucking Association will also be hosting a "Share the Road" display which allows the motoring public the opportunity to "take a seat" in one of the big trucks and get an understanding of what the truck driver sees and what he does not see. This event will be at the Walmart on Huntington Drive in Flagstaff.  In addition to Share the Road DPS has a Driver Awareness (DART) display at the Little America truck stop to help dirvers with logbook regulations and answer questions that drivers may have to keep them in compliance.

I have the privilege to ride with the roaming officers and those on the road side through the Arizona Trucking Association.  It is a great chance for me to get a look into what the law enforcement community's concerns are and what they are looking for.  Each year it seems that there are different violations they are focusing on due to incidents and trends they have identified with in the industry.

A big thanks goes out to the Arizona Trucking Association and the law enforcement community for allowing the industry to be a part of this annual event.

We loaded this Tesmec 1150 XHD on our Trail King yesterday morning.  We loaded it in one of Flagstaff's premier golf courses and took it to Country Club drive for another job.  Thank you LP'S Excavating for the job.

Chris Balderas was the driver on this run.  The route had some difficulties because of tight turns, narrow roads and many grade changes within the subdivision. He did a great job.

It is hard to believe, but the wind actually blew this container off the stack.  I couldn't hardly believe what I saw, because the stack of containers behind it are untouched.  A container is built quite well, even after falling off the other container, there is only a minor dent in the one side of the container and no damage was done to the trailer it landed on.

Believe it or not, the weather is still warm enough to pave.  We moved this unit from Winslow to Williams on our Murray 16 tire, it just barely fits.  Everything went real well until it was time to unload when the paver ran out of fuel, the contractor was there in a hurry to resolve the issue.

Thank you Chris for a job well done.

Check this one out.  The dozer is obviously sick.  This is the first time I have seen one smoke this bad.  Both of the turbos are disconnected from the exhaust system and one of the cylinders is down and the push rods have been removed from it.  The smoke is so bad the operator has to look out the side window for directions from someone on the ground. The mechanics are going to pull it apart to see how extensive the damage is.

Here is a picture of the officers in the first class held on August 26th.  The ATA asked us to help the instructors of the class by providing a truck and trailer for the officers to inspect.  One of the goals of the class was to increase efficiency in the way the officers conduct inspections both in the ports and on the road side.  ADOT was nice enough to allow me to sit through the class so I could learn how they are conducting the inspections and what they are looking for.  It was quite informative and I learned quite a few things.

Check out this link for a short video of Chris pulling a CAT D-10 just after loading it.  He is leaving Williams Arizona destined for Eloy Arizona.  The tractor is in need of repairs due to an engine compartment fire.  Empire did a great job at getting it running so we could safely load the machine.

Here is a decent load.  It is a asphalt milling machine being used on I-40 between Williams and Ash Fork.  We have moved this and a slightly smaller one several times as the contractor is required to jump from spot to spot in preparation for a full rubberized asphalt overlay in that area.  By the way...these machines are quite amazing to watch.  All 4 tracks steer to help in maneuvering and the operator stands in the middle of the machine to operate it.  Not only does the operator have to control the cut and path it takes, he also has to make sure the millings land in the back of the haul off trucks.

Here sits a 621 Water Pull or Wagon.  Water Wagons are hard to pull because each one is custom made so the dimensions can be different from one machine to the other.  This 621 takes up all the real estate we had on the trailer.  Using our Trail King 2X3X2 the machine sailed down the road looking great.  Thank you Chris Balderas for a load well done...somehow he makes these loads look easy!
